thThe same day emergency drills are being conducted at international airports to ensure Canadian authorities are well prepared to respond major  security threats, such as the one recently experienced during the Boston Marathon, the Canadian Press is reporting that the virtual strip-search machines commonly installed in Canadian international airports will have their software upgraded to ensure that passengers no longer have their nude images presented to screeners. Rather, the technology will project a stick figure with highlights of possible hidden objects.

I expect that passengers who remain concerned about either radiation exposure or the residual intrusion can ask for a manual pat-down. That’s what I’ll continue to do: if they’re going to invade my personal space, I want to look the person in the eye while he does it.
